Baltimore County is the third largest county in the state and home to multiple universities including the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; Towson University; Goucher College; and Stevenson University. The community of Towson has a vibrant shopping and entertainment area nestled in its small-town atmosphere. A couple of miles to the north in Timonium, you can find Fox Hollow Golf Course and Learning Center, an 18-hole layout and complete practice facility. The cornerstone of Baltimore County golf may just be Greystone Golf Course in Whitehall near the Mason-Dixon line. This outstanding Joe Lee designed layout has dramatic elevation changes and a mix of hardwoods and wetlands. Rocky Point Golf Course is located in the easternmost portion of the county on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay with stunning water views. The western side of the county’s two courses share the same clubhouse in Windsor Mill. Diamond Ridge has been a long time favorite designed by Ed Ault while The Woodlands is an outstanding Lindsay Ervin creation. This combo gives you the chance to play 36 holes.

Harford County borders Baltimore County to the north and boasts having the state’s most awarded public course. Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace is recognized annually as the best that the Free State has to offer. This Pete Dye masterpiece offers grand golf on every scale. Mountain Branch Golf Club is a challenging layout located in Joppa that features dramatic topography and outstanding conditions. Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun provides a classic links style round with open fairways, manicured tees and greens, and a country club feel that will surely please any golfer. You’ll find plenty of diversions other than golf to occupy your time away from the links. Take in an Aberdeen Ironbirds minor league baseball game at Ripken Stadium or try your luck at Hollywood Casino in Perryville.

Cross the Bay Bridge to find Easton. Queenstown Harbor is a 36-hole golf retreat with on-site cottages and award winning golf that add up to a remarkable stay and play location. The River and Lakes courses are about as good as golf gets in this area. Hog Neck Golf Course, a Talbot County operated facility, features an 18-hole Championship Course as well as a 9-hole executive layout.

A trip to the Inner Harbor is definitely within reach of these locations. You can catch a game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards or just visit some of Baltimore’s famous neighborhoods like Fells Point and Little Italy. A visit downtown makes an excellent addition to your golf trip agenda.
