South-Central Pennsylvania

American History and the South-Central Pennsylvania area go hand in hand. Plus, plenty of outstanding golf courses make this region a popular golf destination.

With history and small-town charm blending so flawlessly together, you have the makings for the perfect golf getaway in Gettysburg. Besides the incredible golf, you’ll find craft beverages and culinary delights in the fine dining establishments and historic taverns downtown. You can explore the Civil War battlefields in several ways from a guided tour to retracing the steps of the military commands by foot. The eclectic shops of the downtown area feature handmade offerings, art, and artifacts. Historic taverns and restaurants will please every palate, and don’t forget to stock up at one of the many roadside farm markets on the way home.

Play some of the most popular and recognized courses this part of the Pennsylvania countryside has to offer. The Links at Gettysburg is situated near the area’s most historic countryside. Prepare for sensory overload when you battle this challenging layout managed by Raspberry Golf. The perfect combination of traditional and modern golf can be found in nearby Fayetteville at Penn National Golf Club & Inn, home of two four star, 18-hole championship courses. The Founders Course is a classic Northeastern-style masterpiece, while Iron Forge is a contemporary design with links characteristics and tall native grasses. Carroll Valley Golf Course at Liberty Mountain Resort is set amidst picturesque rolling hills surrounded by the inspiring Catoctin Mountains. Their sister course is Whitetail Golf Resort located about 30 minutes west in Mercersburg. This Rick Robbins spectacular design brings “golf with a view.” Greencastle Golf Club in Chambersburg is a family-owned local gem that plays across rolling farmland with wetlands and several ponds. After round refreshments at the Fireside Pub are highly recommended to wrap up your day here.

The Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown is set on a former horse farm owned by the Bross family, with 14 wooden bridges including one covered bridge that crosses mostly environmentally sensitive wetlands and creeks. South Hills Golf Club offers both traditional and modern golf course architecture.
